“Belle de Nuit” pendant ca. 1900 via Christie’s
#This was a gift from Brax to Romana #his Star-Blazing Queen of the Night #she pretended to be Not Amused #but when they’re off-planet together on diplomatic missions #she wears it sometimes anyway #and he knows those are the nights when he can get away with an arm around her waist #with asking her to dance #with staring a little too long and too hard #he wishes later while he’s in exile that he’d tested just how far his luck extended on those nights #whether he might have been permitted a stolen kiss on a deserted balcony at some dull cultural function #whether if he gave his unspoken promise that they’d never speak of it she might have let him lead her to his favorite room in his TARDIS #where there’s a dome of stars boundless as any sky and the grass is soft as swansdown underfoot and it feels like you’re all alone in the world #whether she might have permitted him a line about how she outshines them all #one that would be terribly cliche except she’d hear how much he meant it #as he breathed it in her ear #while he was slowly stripping off her dress #but now all he’s got is the pendant #which arrived at the Collection by very discreet messenger the week after his banishment #an unmistakable message that their good days are behind them #and Brax pours himself a brandy #and climbs into his fastest shuttle and flies to whatever part of the planetoid where it’s sundown now #and watches the stars come out
First, I saw the necklace and wanted to reblog it because it’s fabulous. Then I saw “#This was a gift from Brax to Romana #his Star-Blazing Queen of the Night” and realised I needed to copy/paste these hilarious tags, because the Star-Blazing Queen of the Night thing cracks me up forever and always, and I’m a sucker for real-world artifacts being connected to Brax and especially Romana and Brax. And then I read the rest of the tags, and kept reading and kept reading, and it just kept getting worse and getting worse, and now I’m all heartbroken.
This hits far too many of my favourite Brax/Romana/BUT-IT-COULD-NEVER-WORK tropes. Wah.
THANKS A MILLION. ;_;
(p.s. in case you can’t tell from my babbling, this is just the greatest thing)
